This is basically a financial district without any real Muslim population.
You say there isn't a Muslim population there, yet this group and other Muslim groups have been in that neighborhood since before the WTC was built, for 40-50 years.

This group has been at the exact location in question since last year. Why should these Americans be kicked out of their private property now? Why are their fellow Americans turning against them now?

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf made many of feelings known in the 60 Minutes show, and he supports a strict Muslim law going against our constitutional way of life.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf trained our FBI on counterterrorism tactics, and is currently on a USA-government-sponsored tour of the middle east trying to - sigh - show how tolerant Americans are of Muslims. Rauf is also executive director of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, and sits on the advisory panel of the 9/11 memorial and museum.

Just quote the whole GD thing, and take it as a whole and believe my post was more that this is just not a good idea.

....as for Rauf, it still doesn't change the fact of what he said in the interview on 60 minutes.

You can practice your religion - just not where "I" have to see it, and you are not allowed where "I" don't want it - Rusty Weiss

A mosque for Muslim Americans = victory for al Quaeda - an unnamed senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

America is doomed.

Nice changing of words of what was not said or meant....but this is what you miss from my quote:

It is amazing how our gov officials push separation of church & st, and our pres can openly say is it okay for a mosque at ground zero, yet areas of the US can’t even put a simple white cross up for police officers.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a nut. Did you see what he said in this new audio? He said, "We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non Muslims."

He's comparing our country to al-Qaeda.

Yes, that was the point of what was said. Probably best that we start rounding up all the Muslims in America, huh?

it's not new, is it? just newly found? the guy has a right to his beliefs, wrong as most of us would find them. or maybe he's just pandering to the audience that was there. the real shame is that he's not the only american citizen who thinks this either.
