yep, three for three. makes him one of the best ever since he went undefeated...no, seriously-thank goodness woody stephens convinced them at claiborne to stand danzig. and he accomplished all his feats as a sire without covering more than 50-some mares a year.

Bid is likely the best horse who ever lived.

Yep....you never know, which is why it is a good thing that I heard on TVG the other day that Zenyatta will almost surely be able to conceive immaculately, and won't have to bother with any stallion.

One breeding theory...people or horses is "even if you breed two geniuses" (human) the statistical average is the product will regress to the mean...or "average" intelligence in child. This theory applies to most breeding except, in MO, to thoroughbreds like those stallions referenced.

When stallions like MM...DH...SS... MalM...have genes in their pedigrees filled with champions and/or sires of champions, the regression to the mean in breeding likely results in a superior individual "becasue 80%" of the genes represented in these stallions pedigrees came from champion race horses.

That is what they breeder meant when he said "breed the best to the best and hope for the best"

Those stallions you referenced have exceptional pedigrees...MM was injured early in his career and retired. How many stallions are around by Wavering Monarch these days? MM has a gene pool of several "immortal" TB's.

As for Distorted Humor...exceptional pedigree too...filled with all star racers and sires. That "old skinflint" Reineniman owned and raced Distorted Humor...that same owner that raced KD winner WE on a NASCAR track under a major freeway in IN. Reineneman STILL maintained that WE "wasn't that kind of horse(a Kentucky Derby type) after Baffert bought him.

(Nuckols is one of those "old time, hardboot" breeders and was in a partnership with Reineman...Nuckols provided the mares and Reineman raced the progeny....to their detriment since most never reached their potential owned by Reineman a la WE and DH)

Malibu Moon raced twice. But his pedigree is sensational..filled with champion racers/sires..AP Indy...SS...SEC...
