at this point, i have to think that every track is at risk of becoming something other than a track.

i just had a thought....i was reading an article earlier from a bloodhorse from january. it mentions that cost involved in racing from the tracks point of view. they have all that space they have to allocate for barns, etc.

what if all the tracks near each other gave up that portion of the job, sold all that barn land...if you had a training track/facility centrally located to a variety of tracks-trainers wouldn't have to move from track to track, they could ship their starters for the day. you wouldn't have that upheaval every few months when one track closed and another opened. the tracks wouldn't have the outlay for barn maintenance, etc. they could have their track, but sell some of their adjoining property and get rid of that cost...would that be doable?

tracks are in an interesting dilemma...they compete with each other-yet they are all part of one sport. they need to work together to improve the total product, and work together to make it work at each track.
