Ok the first salvo was launched tonight...NEBRASKA was invited and accepted offer to Big 10. Texas AD had a staff meeting tonight informing his coaches that they could not keep Big 12 together. Texas-Tex A&M, Texas Tech, OU, OSU, Colorado heading to Pac 10 to merge with AZ and AS State to form a football div of 8 teams.

Big 10 might stay at 12 or now bring in Rutgers and Pitt and 2 others (NOT ND) to form their own 16 team. ESPN reporting that they are courting Maryland from ACC as a strong possibility!

Big East possible teams to join to replace football defections would be East Carolina, Central FLA, Memphis and possibly BC rejoining....stay tuned.

If big 10 stays at 12, do they rename themselves the "new" Big 12?

What happens to Mizzu now?

Kansas go to the Mountain West, and Izzo takes the Cleveland job, MSU will court Self.

Why would Self leave Kansas for another college job?

Memphis has to be psyched about these machinations. I'd have to imagine they'll end up in a better situation than CUSA when all of this is said and done.

I'm surprised the Texas schools are going to be allowed to leave the Big 12 without Baylor. Very surprised.

If Kansas is forced to play in the Mountain West in basketball they will have a hard time keep their place on the national scene. MW has a bad tv contract (cstv- which virtually no one gets), Kansas will now have to play 2 games a year against Air Force, TCU, SD State, Colorado State, Wyoming, etc.

While they can still play a tough out of conference schedule, they are going to be a tough sell to A level recruits who want to play on the big stage. It isn't as though they will fall off the face of the earth but the revenues will surely be slashed and they may not be able to afford paying guys like Self the amount of money that he makes.
