It's Muslim. But representative? I don't think so. The primary sect is Sunni, and they have stronger tribal relations not found in other Muslim countries. Kinda like saying Catholics and Southern Baptists are all Christians, and that makes them exactly one and the same.

Yeah, well, you're welcome to keep your "DOH!". Sorry, don't buy it, never will.

"All Muslims" are no more alike than "all blacks" are alike, than "all Catholic priests" are defined by those who are child molesters.

Gotta love the internet, where being attacked ad nauseum for not hating Muslims can almost seem justified.

Obama has a strong interest in, and understanding of, the myriad of complexities involving the various countries in the middle east. Tribal relations, power struggles, economics, historic, religious, etc. Carter had (and has) the same. Both "get it" - that it's an incredibly complicated, multi-layered area of the world.

That was you RIOT or no??????????

If only American could overcome bigotry, too.

Did you miss the part that it has been an Islamic Republic since 1956? LOL! Spin like a top all you like but Pakistan is the absolute definition of representative of the Muslim world. And has been for over 50 years.

If you have already decided that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and UAE and Chad and Morocco and Malaysia and Indonesia are all exactly the same socially and religiously, and that all Muslims are the same - hey, good luck with that.

I'd LOL too, but it's rather sad.

Listen genius, you said that Pakistan wasnt representative of the Muslim world. However it's the 6th most populated country in the world with being 95% of that population being muslim. It has been a ISLAMIC REPUBLIC for over 50 years!!! If that isn't a good representation of the Muslim world what is? No one said Muslims are all the same but this freakin country has been a declared muslim state since Eisenhower was President. No one said it was a place where every muslim sect or ethnic variance was equally represented. But a sample size of 160 million muslims in a particular country is certainly large enough to be relevant enough to be considered as a viewpoint of muslims in general.

I sure did. In the context of "all Muslims are alike". You say it proves they are. I say nonsense. Proves how diverse Islam is.

Hello? Earth to Chuck? That's the only thing I am discussing in this thread. That is the only reason I joined in the thread, and the only position I am defending.

Geeshus cripes ...

Context my ass. You wanted to say that Pakistan wasnt a good representative of the muslim world to discredit the post made that contradicted what you said. Of all the countries in the world, Pakistan is the MOST representative of the Muslim world since it has been primarily a muslim world for generations.

And this idea that everybody who disagrees with you in this thread is saying that "All Muslims are alike or terrorists" is a ridiculous notion. No one is saying that (though I am not entirely sure what Scuds is saying)

See, we disagree. How unsurprising.
