After completing the ride, Boshoff asked the owner if he could buy the mare, Annsfield. Eventually, he bred Annsfield to the lackluster Australian runner Lizard Island and off they went."

Congrats to MdK on his lovely boy AND to the HK team... he finally lived up to his potential!

Shadow Gate was scratched at the gate??? What happened Pat?

Hahahaha Waikato came home ahead of the mighty Presvis. Sorry but this made me laugh. (cough cough over cough rated).

I wasn't meaning to give you a hard time, so you know!

I've always thought he was overated... don't hate me!

What the jockey's said - KrisFlyer International Sprint 17 May 2010

Singapore Turf Club

KRISFLYER INTERNATIONAL SPRINT JOCKEY QUOTES

Mark du Plessis – Green Birdie (1st)
“This is a great thrill, and it’s my first international victory. To be truthful, I was a little worried about the ground, but Caspar (Fownes) said he’d handled these conditions in Australia, and he was right.”

Robbie Fradd – Rocket Man (2nd)
“He couldn’t get going on this ground, and couldn’t show his normal kick tonight. The grass was a little longer than normal, and that didn’t help.”

Darren Beadman – Happy Zero (3rd)
“It wasn’t the ground that beat him, it was the gate.”

Michael Rodd – Gold Trail (4th)
“He’s run outstandingly. He was good from the gates, but then seemed lost, changing legs. It was only when Rocket Man moved up outside him that he started to travel better, he kicked well enough, but the last 50 metres just found him out.”

Damien Oliver – Eagle Falls (5th)
“Couldn’t quite get traction on this ground. He was OK when I was holding him together, but the wheels were spinning when I asked him to quicken.”

Brett Doyle – Joy And Fun (6th)
“He couldn’t act on this ground. He missed the break, because his back legs spun, and he was never really going. He needs fast ground.”

Franck Blondel – Mariol (7th)
“It was a good run but unfortunately he tore up his frog (hoof undersole) in the running just before the home turn when he clipped heels behind the winner. I think that cost him a place.”

Saimee Jumaat – Mexican Rose (8th)
“The track was not a problem for her. She jumped well but they’re of a different class.”

Vlad Duric – Ntini (9th)
“Ran a bit better than I thought he would. He was getting home, but it’s just a different ball game at this level.”

Danny Beasley - Cheyenne Dancer (10th)
“No excuses. Just a bit beyond him at 1200 metres against this class of horse.”

What the jockey's said - Singapore Airlines International Cup 17 May 2010

Singapore Turf Club

SINGAPORE AIRLINES INTERNATIONAL CUP JOCKEY QUOTES

Kevin Shea – Lizard’s Desire (1sT)
“This is fantastic, Sweet revenge for Dubai. And the fact that he’s kept producing is a real credit to the Mike De Kock team, and in particular Stephen Jell.”

Bruno Reis – Gloria De Campeao (2nd)
“He has run very well. It’s the first time I have ridden the horse, and he handled the conditions much better than we thought he would. He always tries his best, and he did again today.”

Royston Ffrench – Al Shemali (3rd)
“He’s run his usual honest race, and I was very pleased with him. He was tightened up a little, about half a furlong out, but it made no difference, the winner had come to win his race.”

Joao Moreira – Waikato (4th)
“He had a perfect run, and gave me a good feel throughout the race. He’s done the best job of the local horses, and I felt he did stay the distance.”

Ryan Moore – Presvis (5th)
“He lost a front shoe on the first turn, when he got tightened up, and he was never comfortable after that.”

Ronnie Stewart – Jolie’s Shinju (6th)
“There’s no other way to ride her, and she was happy rolling in front, although I am not sure she appreciated the wet ground. I was pleased with her effort at this level.”

John Egan – Lahaleeb (7th)
“She just got a bit tired at the finish. She had a little setback at the start of the week, and I doubt she was quite at the top of her game.”

Saimee Jumaat – El Dorado (8th)
“He was never comfortable, never happy on the ground – a bit disappointing.”

John Powell – Drovetti (9th)
“He worked home OK, and really didn’t run too badly given the strength of this race.”

Vlad Duric – Goldschatz (10th)
“He had a good enough run, but couldn’t come on when it counted.”

Yuichi Shibayama – Yamanin Kingly (11th)
“Never happy in the soft ground. He needs it firm.”

Katsuharu Tanaka – Shadow Gate- Withdrawn at gate.

Shadow Gate reared in the gate, then busted through - he lacerated his left hind I believe...
