Karl Marx didn't originate the phrase; it was around a long, long time before he used it. Earliest version is from this old book that a lot of right-wingers claim to live their lives by:

32. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35. And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
(Acts 4:32-35)

Well, I guess I trust GOD to make that assessment, but not Marx and not Obama. That goes for a lot of things...not just my wallet -- how about health care?

You know "at some point we're not just going to spend millions so you might kick along for another month or two. We're going to let you die" -- Robert Reich in a speech about health care reform.

The key here is a willingness to give. Marx and O'Bama are more interested in taking. Giving something of your own away is CHARITY. Taking something from someone to give it to another is LARCENY.
