even Dick Durbin admits that we will never see any costs savings

in Illinois they are letting violent criminals out of jail saying - pay more in income tax or we let them all out

You can baaaa at me all you want. Pretty much all the right does nowadays, call names. I voted for Obama over McCain, happy I did. He's not done what he advertised in many ways, as he's centrist rather than to the left, and in fact the progressives are terribly disappointed in him for that very reason.

But he was for health care reform, and it'll happen. Finally, after all these years of promise. Thank goodness!

I wonder why Hooves' Congressman is against the following?

Children with pre-existing conditions will no longer be denied insurance coverage (starts this year)
Lifetime coverage limits will be removed.
You will be covered for preventive care.

You can no longer be denied insurance due to pre-existing conditions.
You can no longer have your rates jacked up or be dropped when you get sick.

Medicare benefits will not be cut.
Medicare holders will get more preventive benefits (like cancer screenings) at no cost
Donut hole gap will be closed for prescription meds

People will keep their own doctors and current coverage in plans they have now (nothing affects or changes that)
No business will be required to provide insurance to their employees.

Businesses who provide insurance to their employees will be protected against arbitrary high rate hikes because one employee gets sick.

Insurance companies cannot charge businesses for coverage based upon individual employee health status

People who do not get insurance through work, and small businesses who do not have insurance for their employees, will be able to purchase the same type of excellent insurance marketplace Government employees & Congress has.

People and companies who still cannot afford this lowered price pool will get some tax cuts to help pay for it (expected to be the largest middle class tax cut in history)

The CBO says people buying health plans in the individual market now will retain the exact same plan, but see their premiums go down 10-14%

Insurance company studies on workplace insurance plans have shown this could reduce premiums for employer-paid work plans by $3000 per employee per year.

CBO says the above plan in total will reduce deficit by one trillion dollars. The Medicare Trust Fund life will be extended 9 years.

Ms. Pelosi actually told reporters: "Nobody wants to vote for the Senate bill." Her scheme to allow House members to escape political responsibility even drew the ire of the Washington Post editorial page, which has strongly backed health care reform: "What is intended as a final sprint threatens to turn into something unseemly and, more important, contrary to Democrats' promises of transparency and time for deliberation

What's in the Senate bill, Timmi, is what is there. It's been out there in public since December to read. No secrets. No "government takeover" of healthcare. No "public option". No "single payer". No "grandma death panels". No "funding for abortion". The reconciliation adjustments are 11 pages. That's what's in there.

What Pelosi said is true. Nobody wants to be politically-technically on the record for voting for alot of the nonsense the Senate allowed into their bill - Stupak's silly abortion amendment, the Louisiana Purchase, Nelson's gift to Nebraska, etc.

That's why the Dems want to vote by using the same procedural method the GOP used 35 times during the past 8 years, "deem and pass". That nonsense gets taken out of the Senate bill.

It's just political posturing of a technical nature. I doubt anybody will be fooled by it. It's hardly providing any real political cover

The Dems have best been described as spineless whoosies during the whole healthcare reform thing, and the GOP has simply been the party of "no" - even though a whole lot of what they are in favor of, regarding healthcare reform, has been included.

I'll bet they claim credit this fall at reelection time for that

But again, if this healthcare reform is so terrible, I don't understand why the GOP doesn't sit back, continue to vote "no", and just let the Dems vote it in. It's not like any GOP votes are needed for any of this.

Seems like if passing this bill is the political dynamite the GOP says it is, standing in the way of that seems pretty silly.

It is going to be hard enough, already, for the GOP to have to go home and tell their constituents this fall, "Yes, I voted against your sick children not being able to be denied insurance".

You are so right. Why else would a takeover of the student loan industry be included? That has what to do with health care? To loosely quote Pelosi " You won't know what's in the bill 'til we pass it".

As for what would I do if Obamacare is passed? Seriously, if it is passed by "deeming" I would consider burning the American flag on my front lawn. A civil right I have always defended and would consider the ultimate act of displeasure with the acts of our elected officials.
