![]() Sometimes you can't let go... let go of how good they were and you keep your hope. Or maybe it's not hope at all. Maybe just a special place - as Kanye wrote "on the other side of the glass in my memories museum" - because watching them sink lower and lower breaks your heart a little bit each time.
You know what could have been. His name was Leo and I guess he was put down after race 1 yesterday at Aqueduct. http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/sho...t=22960&page=8 He was 7 years old. As a 2 year old he was owned by Princess Haya. http://www.tjcis.com/pdf/icsc06/2006worldrankings.pdf (Page 5) I don't have pps for him but if I'm remembering right it wasn't until he did poorly in the BC (Stevie Wonderboy won... Leo way pretty far back) that the downhill spiral began. I choose to remember him being 2nd to Horatio, beating home fields that included horses like Palace Episode and True Cause, being one of the horses most people had in their Godolphin Seven Star stable(s) a few years ago because he was that good and it was expected that he'd go on to greatness. Good night, good boy. There's no way I'll ever forget you. |
