Well you obviously dont. Only an idiot or someone who is severely misinformed would say that age has nothing to do with the physical condition of a horse. And I would be glad to spar with you over knowledge of horses anytime you would like. You see because I have 25 years experience dealing with horses and you have google.

I don't believe that I said that age has nothing to do with physical condition. What I said was that not all horses that are the same age have the same amount of wear and tear on their bodies. You can't just throw out a blanket statement that he's nine so therefore he's got age specific issues or injuries. Each horse, just like each athlete, is an individual.

ok fine. Then the Lava Man would be similar to Sandy Koufax in human terms. There are lots of things that could be done to Koufax that could have kept him pitching but he is now in his 70's so they arent trying to bring him back anymore. And he may even be a gelding too.

Yeah because we have other examples of 70 year olds that can still pitch. That's logical. There are no examples of 9yos that continue to race though. Great analogy.

name an example of a 9 year old that came back off a long layoff to compete at a graded level.

That's not the issue. The issue is you saying he's nine so therefore he HAS to have physical limitations that would preclude him from racing. All I say is maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. But him being nine doesn't make it automatic. All 9yos aren't the same. How many 7yos before Precisionist had come back and done it? He did it. Every circumstance and every horse is different. His age is not the determining factor here, it's his health. He might be more physically able to run as a 9yo than a 3yo like Quality Road.

While I don't disagree with much of anything you're saying...since you asked, it's only been like two weeks since 9-year old Cloudy's Knight came back from over a year off to win a Grade III.
