I would guess Sheff wont be back either. Murphy is more of a 4th OF/bench type. FA signing looms.

Actually the FA 1st base class is very weak this year. May look for stopgap or maybe even a 1 year flyer type or trade though the Mets dont have that deep of a system, unlike the Phils who have a bunch of almost ML ready guys.

The mets got all of their minor leagers in this year from everyone being hurt. Omar is a smart guy, he'll figure something out.

This is debatable.
When in charge of the Expos (which was a screwed up situation) he traded Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips and Cliff Lee for Bartolo Colon.
He also traded Jason Bay for Lou Collier.
Then there was Javier Vasquez for Nick Johnson, Juan Rivera and Randy Choate.
Cliff Floyd for Sun-Woo Kim and Seung Song.
Orlando Cabrara for Brendan Harris and Alex Gonzalez.
As a Met GM he has made a few marginally good deals
Getting Lo Duca for bit players was ok. The Delgado trade was a salary dump by the Marlins but was ok. Getting John Maine for Kris Benson was very good. As was getting El Duque for Julio.
But there was the three week period in 06 when he basically gave away heath Bell, Matt Lindstrom and Brian Bannister.

And he did sign Luis Castillo to a high dollar contract.

So I would tend to be a little pessimistic on his doing something positive

Saturday is my birth day, and yesterday was my dad's, so we are celebrating them by having a golf weekend in SC. So you don't need to be worried about me not playing.
