founded in 1888 yikes - the news article said luckily no horses or humans were hurt but they've lost all their feed and hay stored for winter am sorry to say... looking at their website kinda got caught up in reading some of the bios of their residents, they give each horse a special write-up, very thoughtful and well-done ...

Welcome to Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, a retirement facility for aged and/or abused horses. Founded in 1888, it is the country’s oldest, non-profit organization, 501(c)(3) dedicated to the care of these majestic animals. Located on 383 beautiful acres of rolling hills in southeastern Pennsylvania, Ryerss Farm provides a wonderful setting for horses to graze and play, living their golden years in comfort and dignity.
