Rules are rules. It sucks for the Owners, but Owners lose purse money all the time when the pinhead they employ gets DQ'd on the track for an incident. Why is this any different?

I agree with this normally but in this case they have a legitimate point. The gate people should have had the correct equipment. They have extra whips should a problem occurs and they should be held partially responcible for giving her the incorrect equipment. The track itself failure to supply proper equipment must be considered in the ruling. To me its like when the ref blows the call, sorry we did but you can't change everything back. Let the outcome stand.

Yes but...

Isn't she responsible to know the rules and know the equipment of her own craft? If she got handed an incorrect whip, she should have known enough to hand it back?

THats Kind of What I thought too but from What a few People are telling Me that were there is the Gate Crew told Her she had to Ride with The whip or risk recieving a Possible Fine or Suspension or Both for not Carrying A whip during the Race. IMO the starter is a little bit a fault here for not Contacting the Stewards before the Race was Run to let them Know what was going on.
