Ron Ellis is an annoyingly conservative trainer.
It was terrible to see him win a 2-year-old champion with Declan's Moon while not running in the BC Juvenile at Lone Star. He can basically thank Jeremy Rose for getting Afleet Alex off poorly, and having him 5 wide on both turns, and finishing 2nd beaten less than a length to sweet trip Wilko in the BC Juvie. He can also thank Vic Stauffer for pretty much declaring him 2yo champion in a sales pitch to the voters with his Hollywood Futurity race call.
