My bet didn't come off, surprised to see he didn't do better than that considering his previous form. Very surprised Monitor Closely won, I thought he'd be easily outclassed here.

![]() Well, I put my $2 on Warringah in the Ebor and he nearly did it on the lead the whole way under top weight of 9-10. Having to repulse Record Breaker earlier in the stretch drained him out and the lighter weights caught him in the last 20 yards. Well done, Warringah, even if you didn't win. (Gave 11 lbs to the winner, 10 lbs to the second.)
By the way, the winner was a mare; no big deal, fillies and mares run with the colts all the time over there. Picking the winner of the Lonsdale Cup was no problem; Montjeu out of an Acatenango mare? the farther they go, the more he's going to like it. Stout German families like his are going to save the breed from the breed-for-speed-only lot. Look at Sea the Stars; think a Cape Cross was going to win a Derby with a bottom line like his? (His second dam was Allegretta, who was dropped in GB but whose parents were both German.) |

![]() WHEEEE! My old favorite Borderlescott wins the Nunthorpe for the second year in a row. Pretty good for a 'handicapper' who first made his name with his performances in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood.

![]() Notice it was the 2yo who ran third, behind the two 'old men?' All-ages races are popular in Europe, too - the Abbaye, the Foret, the Chiusura in Italy, and the Austria-Preis in Vienna are open to 2yos and up as well.
