I know that research costs alot , but after drugs have been on the market for so long its hard to justify the amount of money that they charge.
eggggggggggzactly.

The Medicare Reform Act Bush signed a few years ago was nothing more than a heist of the treasury by pharmaceutical companies. Instead of controlling costs, as was promised, the pharmaceutical companies raised prices exponentially and ass-raped the treasury.

If you've been keeping an eye on the buyouts and mergers of pharmaceutical companies, one of the other, over the past few months, you'll be even more scared. Nothing like buying up and eliminating your competitors for certain classes of drugs, so less brands are on the market. I can't believe that anti-trust laws are not coming into play with some of these?

I have. And really all you have to do is take a ride in your car and look on every street corner and count how many drug stores there are.

but it worked so well for fuel companies...

seriously, you have a point there. lack of competition screws the customer, not the business.

Lots of medicine practiced by GP's could be done
easily by others. Some of the stuff they do is not
rocket science.

But good GP's are absolutely necessary for finding
some of the problems. Most prospective medical "kids"
want to be brain surgeons or orotho's working on some big
name athlete. More good GP's needed, and then the minor
problems taken care of by physician assistants.

The lawyers are a big problem.

A lady hit me about 7 years ago (auto accident,
not because I assualted her) Cops wrote up the
report, upon which over the next 2 weeks I got at
least 6 calls from Lawyer "cold callers" asking about
my injuries. I said I was not hurt, just a sore neck..
Big mistake. Then they kept going on, it might be, it might be...
Finally I started to claim I had been decapitated in
the accident. One office asked how to spell decapitated
and said we will get back to you.

It would also help if more care went to kids and not
old farts like myself that lack a skull.

The Pharm. stuff posted above is very interesting.
