while a lot of champion horses hit the ground running, some take a while to realize their greatness.
here are the first 3 races for the following: secretariat- 4th, 1st, 1st ferdinand- 8th, 3rd, 2nd johnhenry- 1st, 3rd, 2nd sunday silence- 2nd, 1st, 2nd cigar- 7th, 1st, 4th serenas song- 5th, 4th, 1st tiznow- 6th, 2nd, 1st so lets not throw him away just yet. also, none of the horses listed above tried to run a mile first out.
