Chuck, I'm still a registered Republican, so you're just gonna have to chalk me up to naive rather than partisan.

I'm sure it was that dang tricky Fitzergerald just trying to throw me off the trail - saying there are no allegations whatsoever about Obamas behaviour, when he warned the media not to cast aspersions on people just because they are named here - and when he quoted Blago as cursing Obama out for not being willing to pay to play

The revealing truth about Obama and team, and the content of all those conversations, has to be on the verge of being exposed. Obama already wanted to reveal, but the prosecutor wouldn't let him. It's a cover up!

Where and when did he say that? You said first news conference? I think you're mistaking comentary afterward from what Fitz said which was

FITZGERALD: Okay. I'm not going to speak for what the president-elect was aware of. We make no allegations that he's aware of anything, and that's as simply as I can put it.

Q In the briefings that President-elect Obama has had over the past weeks with various government departments here, would it be possible for him to have been briefed on what was going on here with regard to this investigation?
MR. FITZGERALD: I'm not going to comment on that. I'm not the briefer. I'm not at those meetings. But I would simply say that this was very close-hold in Washington, and on a need-to-know basis. So I'm -- but I'm not going to -- I'm not the briefer, so I'm not going to represent what happens. But -- I'll leave it at that.

now here's the link to te entire transcript. http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008...erence_on.html Please for the love of God show me where P. Fitz exonerates Obama or for that matter anyone?

No, it's what I quoted, above, previously.

Where???? Not YOUR quote but Ftzgerald's. I provided the entire transcript and it's just not there.
Please I beg of you to find Obama being exonerated by Fitz. Just show me.

what he did say IN THE TRANSCRIPT was:

Q (Inaudible) -- you said twice that we shouldn't cast aspersions on people who we think we recognize within the complaint. Does that mean that all of these people are beyond blame in any way? I mean, some of the things in the complaint point a very kind of a tacky finger at some people, their willingness to play. And if pay to play is illegal, isn't the willingness to play also culpable, even if you didn't charge today?

MR. FITZGERALD: What I'm trying to say is this. Look, we never give -- you know, and I think anyone who's from Chicago knows -- you've heard it a thousand times -- we don't give clean bills of health. And what I've always been afraid of is if you say, you know, "Did Carlos or me -- are we in trouble?" I'm never going to say no, because that's just our practice. But I don't want people, when I answer those questions, to imply that someone is in trouble.

What I'm trying to do is explain caution about a complaint. When someone says something that's on tape, largely they're stuck with it. But when someone says something on tape about someone else, you usually want to do more investigation to verify what it is that happened. And we're going to do that investigation and verify what it is that happened, what didn't happen, and what the circumstances are.

There may be people who had no idea what was going on, had no idea they were being discussed. There may be other people who were involved in things they shouldn't have been involved in. And we're going to sort that out. And we're going to see -- you know, some things will be be black and white and some things will be shades of gray.

??? Dell, it is indeed all there, in the Sun Times copy of the transcript you posted. Start and the beginning, and read. You will see Fitzgerald say exactly what I said he did in my earlier post quoting him.

You even said, quoting part of the transcript:

Quote:
what he did say IN THE TRANSCRIPT was:

Q (Inaudible) -- you said twice that we shouldn't cast aspersions on people who we think we recognize within the complaint.
Yes, look before the part you quoted, and you will see the part Fitzegerald said that I quoted.

Dell, my previous post was:

Quote:
I tried to find the articles with the original press conference (not sure if I watched it or read it), but all I could find were repeated references to it (check out MediaMatters for one)

"Prosecutor and U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald stated during a December 9 press conference that the criminal complaint "makes no allegations about the president-elect whatsoever -- his conduct," and Fitzgerald cautioned the press to "not cast aspersions on people for being named or being discussed or if you learn they're being interviewed."

Then Fitzgerald went on to point out where Blago called Obama a muther-effer for offering nothing but appreciation if he puts Obama's candidate in the Senate seat.

Obama a few days ago wanted to put out details of the conversations his office had with Blago's office, but the Prosecutor asked them not to do that yet.
And the quotes are indeed right there in the transcript you are referencing:

"I should make clear, the complaint makes no allegations about the president-elect whatsoever, his conduct."

"But we make no charges about any of the other people who are referenced in the complaint, most not by name. And people should not cast aspersions on people who are discussed on the wiretap or bug tapes for conduct when other people are scheming to figure out how to approach them for different things. We hope you'll bear that in mind and not cast aspersions on people for being named or being discussed, or if you learn they're being interviewed."

OK the report is out and all are clear my appologies.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/...2/44214196.pdf

mmm wonder who this Craig guy is?

Gregory B. Craig, a well-known Washington lawyer who quarterbacked President Bill Clinton’s impeachment defense, has been chosen White House counsel by President-elect Barack Obama, according to Democratic officials.

Craig is intimately familiar with the president-elect’s record because he played the role of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in debate preparations.

Guess another outside guy bringing change?

I want to hear Fitzgerald

Obama's camp says that. Fitz is mum. Won't confirm or deny. But you're right Craig's word is gold. Wonder why Rahm can only remember 2 calls? Oh and then 4 to Harris. And to think when all this started there was no contact with the Governor.
