Axelrod had worked for Blagojevich in his past races for the House, but he declined to work on his gubernatorial run.

"He had been my client and I had a very good relationship with him, but I didn't sign on to the governor's race," Axelrod told the New Yorker. "Obviously he won, but I had concerns about it...I was concerned about whether he was ready for that. Not so much for the race but for governing. I was concerned about some of the folks -- I was concerned about how the race was being approached."

And the link is not a lefty puff piece...It quotes Obama plenty endorsing Blago...as almost every Dem did at that time.

if that's true, then channel 5 screwed up their newscast last night and this afternoon. I hope Barack isn't dragged into any of the indictments, unless he's absolutely 100% guilty without a shadow of doubt (which I don't believe to be the case). However, Rahm and Axelrod are about as straight as a 3-dollar bill, especially Rahm. Even Clinton's on camera saying that he'll double talk or double cross you if it's to his benefit.

I'm curious...what do you think Obama is exactly GUILTY of...and the key word is guilty? Besides being a liberal.

like I said, I don't think Obama's guilty of anything, or at least I hope not... now, some of his appointees, that's a totally different story.

Axelrod admitted on camera they had talked to Blago about the candiate seat. All over. Then he recanted. Like I said either Rahm is an informer or this will be Nixon times 100.

You guys want this so bad you can't help yourself. To compare Obama's role...which at this point is nothing and will probably be nothing to Nixon and to compare Rahm to Deep Throat is nuts.

I'm surprised Axelrod recanted. Why shouldn't he talk to Blago about the Senate seat. I (Blago) certainly would ask the NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES his opinion...or solicit it, if that is your cup of tea. And it's pretty damn obvious how far he ( Blago) got by the indictment.

I wasn't surprised, Axelrod's not trustworthy. However, if I'm Barack and wasn't consulted about a seat I'm giving up, I'd be totally ticked off. Was very surprised that he said he didn't talk to Blago about it, which I find almost impossible to believe. (should have said he gave Blago a recommendation, that's it... and left it at that).

FOX news Chicago took the feed off. Lawsuit ie Axelrod et al? Recanted, like Clinton recanted 'is'.

I figure as an avowed left winger I should say something here, though I have not been as active lately in this room.

I find this Blago drama a little disconcerting. I think it sure is good that Blago called Obama a motherfocker because Barack only offered "gratitude", but that brings up the question of Obama's communications regarding the Senate seat. Looks like a pretty sleazy playground Obama grew up in there in the Chicago political landscape, Obama must be a crafty motherfocker in order to have played his way to the top.

Those of you who thought Obama was too naive to be President and wasn't tough enough should be heartened by all of this.

But, please, let's do away with all the theories that Obama is a Muslim extremist or a crack smoking fag if we're going to jump on this new idea that Obama is one of the good old boys from white Chicago land politics. I think the first two theories I mention are foolish, but this sleaziest, baddest motherfocker in the sandbox thing might have merit regarding Obama

I'm curious as to how Jesse Jackson Jr. is going to come out of this, seems like Blago couldn't have been so delusional that he was imaging a spokesperson for Jackson was offering up a million bucks.

I've been reading the "other side" of the news reports( NY Post, Drudge Report) on this to try to get both sides and find the commonalities. I sure don't like that Axelrod has now said he "misspoke" a few months back regarding whether or not Obama had conversations with Blago over the vacant seat.

What the hell does "misspoke" mean, anyways? If not lying, does it mean the speaker was just talking out his ass, drugged or delusional?

One question I have: What happens if something should happen to Obama before the Inauguration? Does Biden automatically become the next President?

Probably Operation Push that way Jesse Sr. will say he didn't know about it.

You are absolutely 100% correct. If something happens to Obama, then Biden will become the next President.

Interesting to find out on the local news last night that Blago's wife was the one that sold Obama/Rezko, the property that Obama's house is on. Knew Rezko was in on it, but didn't know Blago's wife was in on it too.

I don't think Obama had anything to do with this. I just am very confident that something else will pop up over the next 4 years.

These Chicago guys are corrupt as hell. Just as bad as the Texas crowd.

Give any one party total control and you know a bunch are going to jail.

I am still saying Rahm Emmanuel goes to jail before Obama leaves the White House.
