![]() Mike, please, please don't throw words like that around ("terrorist sympathizer"). It makes me sort of sick. You're a really smart guy who knows his stuff, so let that speak for itself.
To continue the thread, I can't envision Bernardini having too much trouble with the older horses now, either. This isn't a particularly strong year for them, although maybe LM will give him a little trouble if they both go to the front. Should be a good Classic. |

i think bernardini is a fine racehorse....but MY jury is still out, and will remain so as to where he fits in on any list. he's nowhere near red and the bid right now.

And I disagree about Bernardini merely beating a horse who was taken out of his game. Bluegrass Cat was taken out of his game precisely because JV knew that there was no way his horse could possibly win otherwise. Bernardini BC change tactics.......that, to me, says tons about what kind of horse he is. Now Bernardini is going to be penalized because he did merely what he was supposed to do? Hmm, after the Haskell, most people were saying that BC was as good as Bernardini that day and would give him a tough test. Now they're backtracking and detracting from Bernardini because, with 20/20 hindsight, Bernardini was the better horse? |

![]() Well said Somer. Bernardini impressed me today. He is a damn good horse. But to say he is better than Bid or Secretariat? HUH? I say I want some of what they are smoking!
![]() Honestly, I was wondering before the Travers why I am not a Bernardini obsessed person. I think it is because he won the Preakness. My heart cannot get over Barbaro. I think I kinda block Bernardini out. I can only think of that as a reason I am not head over heels for this horse. Does anyone else feel this way?

I do! I was dazed after the Preakness, wasn't even sure who won the race...and didn't care! After watching replays, I was very impressed but still felt that Barbaro would have won...! Bernardini's next race was a paid workout and frankly, so was the Travers. Not his fault that he's the best 3yo in training but still...people here constantly ask "who did he beat" when talking about past horses, yet some are willing to anoint this guy as the "greatest ever"...lets watch a couple more races!

![]() anyone who thought barbaro ran an incredible derby and was absolutely awed by his performance, which stacked up historically against so many others...and with the supposed curses he sneered at....well, it'll be hard not to look at bernardini and not wonder what if. (and don't forget, his margin today compares to barbaros margin in MAY)
it is too soon to call him the best ever, the best in years...who here will move him ahead of tiznow right now? over sunday silence? unbridled, alysheba?? affirmed, seattle slew, secretariat, the bid, ap indy???? not me!

To thee best of my knowledge Sheikh Mo is nothing but an honorable sportsman with a sense of decency. A particular poster here used to post on ESPN and was outspoken in his defense of those who acted against the US. Scuds spotted him before I did. Note his lack of denial. We are at war, and before I am a horse racing fan or anything else I am a proud American. The presence of such a person is sickening. |

Then I categorically apologize, Oracle. I'd like to remove my post, but at this point, it's too late. Nuff said on the subject, I agree with you. And yes, I am stupid because I should have read more closely all the posts on the subject before making a dumb comment. It's an unfortunate habit of mine. |
