I don't know what type of investigation/hearing Suffolk gave the people involved but their policy on no slaughter is pretty clear. Nick Zito was quoted as saying that was one of the reasons he ran Commentator at the Mass Cap, to show his support. Knowing this I would think one would do a little extra leg work before re-homing a herd of horses.

Suffolk may not be the top racing but they made a stance and stuck to it. Today is the closing day for live racing for the season and I intend to be there to support the track and racing in Massachusetts, especially after the dog racing ban.
This is a good post...I would only add that the posted ban is "no tolerance" and like the article quotes Chip Tuttle, why even have the ban if you will allow people to skirt the rules? Trainers and owners at Suffolk should be on high notice when involving themselves in these activities and check out all avenues before they get duped.

I am also going to closing day today, determined to cash on the pick 4 a few times, and to support the work the track has done the last year or two on many fronts. Also, going to dabble in the Food and Beer Fest they are hosting

Another good point by SuffolkGrl in regards to the dog racing ban. Uninformed poor voting decision made by the states voters, I had a few long rambles on the topic in this thread if you were interested:

Good for Suffolk for backing up their words. Zero tolerance should mean zero tolerance. I find it VERY hard to believe that anyone who actually gives a sh*t about the horses in their care would just hand them over before doing a little research. I also think that the people involved are lying through their teeth because they got caught.
That New Holland sale is disgusting, I pity the animals that end up there.
