Yes, you're right, I didn't think the act of registering nonexistent voters alone was a crime, and it is (and in the case you cite, charges were dropped and replaced with a fine and increased oversite requirements by the organization as the registration fraud was done by individuals hired by the org. to make money, not stuff ballot boxes with fake votes).

What I was thinking of was that while there have been lots of accusations of ACORN voting fraud over the past two months (such as the joke you made to Scav about ACORN registering and voting in his name) those accusations have been false regarding the voting fraud, as there has never been a case of ACORN being accused of or involved in voting fraud (a vote actually being cast via a false registration).

All those things dont make it ok or dont make Acorn an orgainzation that shouldnt be monitored. We have enough problems with voter registration in this country (see Philski) to have to deal with damn fools like this who are signing up anybody with a pulse regardless of eligibility or not. To deny that ACORN has not done a lot of things that are questionable and ultimately harmful to the process regardless of intent is naive.
