I think the cat will be out of the bag in a big way at Keeneland. When he was running for Shuman he was crippled. There's no telling how good he will be now that they've given him the opportunity to sound up. Ill be shocked if he doesn't make a good account of himself at Keeneland, even moreso if he's not the nuts at Santa Anita

If Talent Search is the best sprinter in training, the BC should suspend the sprint indefinitely. Frankel did a bang up job with Cajun Beat in a similar scenario.

Who's better Cannon? He's ran second to Benny the Bull, Diabolical, Fabulous Strike. With a lot of issues, always laying it down to the wire. If you watch the races when he finished second to Fabulous Strike in his heightened cheating days, and his second to Benny in the Defrancis who can beat him 100pct sound. The sprint division isn't exactly strong right now. Even with the division loaded Talent Search was serious. The best part is him debuting at Tampa for 12k, almost comical

He may be the best which is scary considering he is not much more than an accomplished $75000 claimer. The older horse divisions are as bad as they have ever been. The sprinters are awful, the older 'handicap' horses are pathetic and the turf horses are a joke. The best fallout from the drop of the bloodstock market is that maybe with stud fees dropping, the value of stallion prospects will decline which may keep some better horses in training longer. Commentator wins the Mass Cap in a virtual walkover, Wandering Boy is suddenly considered good, Fairbanks wins the Hawthorn Gold Cup at 4/5, California racing....These are not good signs. Curlin vs Big Brown will take away from the fact that many of the BC races are pathetic. Outside of the Distaff what other division has a good group of horses?

The really good ones will still retire especially if Darley wants them but maybe some of the others will develop as 4 and 5 year olds. It wont happen overnight but the other development that will affect the stallion market is synthetic surfaces. No one really has any idea yet about what bloodlines will be considered synthetic but the fact that CA, Canada, KY's only A meet, AP, Presque Isle, etc are on synthetics will lower the demand for strictly dirt sires and open the doors for other lines, at least in theory.

does darley race all their stock? you see them buy, but do they ever sell? of course their sires are available to outside breeders...but thinking of them made me wonder.
but yeah, back when real quiet and silver charm ran at four, the breeding market was on a downturn. one certainly has to do with the other. seems this bubble has finally burst as well.

Personally of all the sprints yesterday I was most impressed by Fatal Bullet in the K Cup Sprint.

Watch out for him he's a freakishly fast poly sprinter...

Do you know if that horse can rate a little bit?

That's a good question, I don't think he needs the lead if you look at his past p's, the jock that took over for his last 3 races is a pretty good gate jockey from what I know of him and he really lets his horses run. When you look at his bris numbers it's his middle move number that stands out. He got a 108 beyer in breaking the track record yesterday, it looks like he will be going to SA and he may be one to tab for the pro ride surface.

Scuds, check the replay of the KY Cup Sprint. He completely blew the break (last of the 10), rushed up a bit, and STILL set the track record. I don't know if it means he can rate, I'll have to watch some more races of his, but I guess that's a positive sign.
