NBC showing him hurt over and over really hurt for the casual fans. The people I talked to who don't watch it regularly said that they have no reason to watch if that's going to happen.
However the attention given to him being saved really really helped. I thought that this was very important that ALL of the public new that they would do everything to save him. I think that they did it right. That may have set a new standard, though. More TV coverage would help, too.
