One of a trainer's jobs is to take the heat for their owner's misguided decisions. There is no way Mott wanted to run her in the Alabama....and even less chance he was confident in her chances.

Andy, what do you think about Mott's decision? I forget who owns You and I Forever, but if Mott thought the colt should be in the Travers, I'm sure the owner would give it a shot.

Also, do you give Cool Coal Man any kind of a shot? I was kind of disappointed by his Haskell effort -and shocked by Coal Play's - but I guess a part of me hopes that CCM will live up to the promise he showed late last year and earlier this year. Thus far, I've been disappointed. Maybe he'll be better as an older horse. Speaking of Coal Play, any idea where Nick is going to point this colt? I'm hoping his Haskell wasn't a fluke, but that's more a hope than an expectation.

His last return, you were right on your 1/1,000 call on Giant Moon not winning the Albany:

Does the year 1985 mean anything? Besides that being the year I escaped high school that is.

Speaking of which, I almost missed my graduation ceremony in 1985 because I had to be at Hollywood Park that day, as Snow Chief was making his debut in a 5 or 5.5F race off a 1:10 and change workout in Tiajuana.

I don't think he was even favored!
