![]() Going to rain all day tomorrow and hard
![]() They'll do whatever it takes to keep the Sword Dancer on the turf. Its a Grade 1. If its slippery, so what. Handicap it for soft turf. |

I think NYRA should announce that they'll be NO MORE TURF RACING at SAR and stop wasting the time of turf handicappers. Get it the **** over with. Save your precious courses for next summer and fall workouts of horses stabled up there. What's ironic is that when they do run on the turf it's all claimers and maiden races. How could this situation have been any worse? |

![]() It would actually be really neat if they ran a race like the Sword Dancer on dirt. I wonder if any MTO's are entered?

![]() I have no idea what all of you are talking about. I started this thread because I was looking for some weed.
What are you thinking? Spyder

![]() Thanks Joey.
Is there a rule you cant have MTOs for a Graded Stakes? Or did it just happen that no MTO's happened to enter? Why couldnt a horse just enter the race like any other horse, not as a MTO, but truly the trainer would only run if the race came off the turf, and just end up scratching if the race stayed on the turf? Whats the benefit of being an MTO? |

If you took your head out of your ass, you (and some of the other 'tradionalists' on this board, who basically accept the standard **** without complaint) might realize that SAR (and BEL) has TWO turf courses. It's amazing what two courses and creative use of RAILS would do in a situation such as the present. Unfortunately, NYRA lacks the ability to get creative. We wouldn't want to ruin the courses for all those FALL workouts, would we? BTW, it was raining last night, yet they still managed to get that football game in. Go figure. |

I understand your frustration but you really need to understand the magnitude of rain they have gotten.. The FN place is a swamp.. It has rained about 18" so far...Everyday it raind at least 2".. I was sitting near the NYRA guys and trust me they are as frustrated as you. It's unfair to punish them when in this specific case there is absolutely NO CHOICE.. They aren't saving the turf courses the courses are simply overwhelmed with an incredible amount of water. Plus even when it doesn't rain it hasn't been hot to help dry out the course. They would need to get helicopters in there twice a day to have a fighting chance. I left this morning and the forecast was again very dodgey.. Sometime NYRA baies the turf but in this case it's in G-ds hands not theirs. |

I know this may be laughable, but has anyone ever proposed any type of tarp system to keep the turf courses covered when they aren't running? Obviously a very large one time expense to make it, but it should last for years and would just require the labor to roll and un-roll.
