Her dam was a pretty damn good turfer (think she held the course record at Kentucky Downs for a while, also won the Ballston Spa). Love the two sprints to a route, even though both starts were pretty mediocre.

I can't leave out the Frankel, though. Seems like she should move forward again, and that should be enough to win.

Not a great sign that she cost $2.7 million as a yearling and didn't make it to the track until three years later, but I guess she wouldn't have to be a monster to win this race.

I agree with you guys that the 5th race is near impossible and I'm sure you are not going to get fair value for Double Domino, but he has a speed turf pedigree and cost 150K for a Stormy Atlantic. He looks better than Dougie to me in another best guess race.

I should add unlike the other Pletcher the other day debuting by Unbridled's Song that sold for under that sire's average cost per offspring, this one looks a little less suspicious as Stormy Atlantic's usually go for 71.8K

Didn't like him or the 5 as much, and I was just taking a shot, so I didn't want to invest too much money into a tri. Disappointed in how the 8 backed up despite the moderate fractions. Wasn't going to play it at all but figured it was worth a try with the money spread around like that.

Whatever chances Sky Dragon may have had were completely compromised by the race dynamics and the hopeless ride he got. He may well have never had a chance....but whether or not that is ultimately true was cinched by John Velasquez's foolishness.
