The Dallas Morning News out did them when they cut back and fired Gary West the week .befor the BC at LS, The Dallas papers have been lucky to have Gary and Randy Moss both but the News buying ou the hearld and dumb decisions by management have left Dallas without a turf writer. I have experienced some good sportswriters here, Blackie Sherod wos the best and is now retired, Blackie was so good he finished as a feature on the editorial page and in his youger years would cover the political partys conventions and showed his excelance with his colomus. Gary West is known for his turf writing but I maintain he could be in the Blackie class. Just a very good writer that happens to cover the turf.

If the papers don't want to cover horseracing the owners may as well buy their own page, run their own ads, and have writers write about how great such and such horses are and how great the upcoming race is.
