The role of the pg has changed but that's only if you are talking about they should get a pg to be their dominant offensive player. You don't want a guy that's going to dominate the ball because that's what Kobe's going to do. Same thing with LeBron in Cleveland. You saw the same thing with Pierce here. Imo if your PG is your leading scorer thats trouble.
But they have to do the vast majority of ball handling
and adjusting the pace and situations to fit the Man on the team.
I personally like a PG that can play D. Stop the initial penetration
is always first at the crucial junctures in games. Easy layups
by the opposing PG at critical points is worse than having the
star score imo.
