any addict needs to replace the former addiction with something else, albeit an alcoholic becomes addicted to going to meetings, a compulsive gambler takes up gardening.

It is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT for Jerry to find something TO REPLACE GAMBLING WITH. Otherwise, he will fall back.

When you give something up, you leave a hole that needs to be filled.

Rehab 101. 6 months outpatient and that gets drilled into your head daily. 12 step programs don't stress that like that.

That is correct. That is what we were saying. Play chess. It is a great addiction.
