They are an act for sure. Easy to root against. Not so easy to bet against unfortunately.

an excerpt from pat forde's article:

What the rest of the racing game saw was a trainer with a rap sheet longer than "Kent Desormeaux" win the Kentucky Derby. Dutrow has been fined and suspended dozens of times in his career, sometimes for drugging himself and sometimes for drugging his horses. He says he's gotten his personal life in better shape, but documents from the Association of Racing Commissioners International show that he's gotten in trouble every year this decade when it comes to medicating his horses.

Because they wanted to win.

I think a lot of people on these boards play the role by trying to act like they'd be above board with everything they do but I doubt that it would really be like that if they were involved. Once you get into the business side of a lot of things, the bottom line becomes more important than it is while you are just a fan. A lot of people hate him but I think that Jim Rome is pretty much hitting it on the head in sports when he says "if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying and it's only cheating if you get caught."

As for Dutrow, I like the guy. As BTW said, all he did before the race was tell people what he really felt. That was refreshing for me. I can't stand for trainers that have a horse that should be 1/5 or a coach of a team that's a 30-pt favorite to talk up the opponents like it's the toughest match he's ever going to have. Just be honest and say what you really feel. I can respect that. I'm not saying that Dutrow is the best guy in the world but I don't hold his past against him like some of you seem to do.
