I can't believe that he didn't blow these away after so impressively beating those terrors at Gulfstream.

Police, report to the nearest Tampa bridge.

If he's not hurt (hope he's not), I don't wanna hear about how he was compromised at the start. He should've been able to spot these horses 10 lengths and still win.

More like he ran into a brick wall approaching the turn for home.

If he is as good as everyone thinks, he should have won this race for fun. That is why he was 1/9. I saw no excuses.

Then you dont understand the game. When a horse whos a straight front runner has trouble like WP had thats whats giong to happen. Its absolutely disgusting that they didnt reset that horses head before they spring the gate

Ok I don't understand the game.....Are you kidding. I have been listening to how this horse is the next secretariat for months now. He is a good horse and he had no excuses against a field as weak as this.

Why then didn't he just bull rush his way between the other two going into the turn? I can see the excuse for a speedball like him losing after the start but he didn't seem to show much at all in the face of adversity. Should have gone up on his own.

The horse has never been in that position before. Im surprised he didnt spit it quicker than he did. All a learning experience.

Alot better than he is? Until today hes an undefeated champion whos never had a horse with in a length and a half of him at any point in time, in any race.

Everything go his way? He needs the gate to open and have his head set. He just needs a fair chance like any horse needs. Hes the most talented horse in the country and its just insane that they dont do a better job in the gate for a race like that.

if he can't handle that minor bump, or make any kind of a rally from third, then he's toast as far as the derby is considered.

You are right S2S. "Great" horses would have overcome something like that. If he was as good as advertised, he would have split the pacesetters entering the turn and would have dictated the pace. Unless Zito gave instructions to rate WP, to see if he could effectively stalk, there is no other excuse. WP, whose pedigree suggests the classic distances may be out of reach, faced adversity today and succumbed to it.

Did you guys watch the race?

The horse was unsettled to start, broke a step slow, was pinched back, then rank. Starters have to do a better job than that, I could see his head wasnt set and Im watching on Harnessracingtv.
