Peter Ibbetson

Arsenic and Old Lace

Treasure of Siera Madre

Deer Hunter

Cool Hand Luke

Once Upon A Time in America

Young Frankenstein

Amadeus

Private Ryan

Platoon

It was very hard leaving some out...in fact there may be some I enter over some here ...later.

I was really vexed over leaving out Friday the 13th.....the 56th Final Chapter....but something had to go.

that's a good list. never heard of or saw Peter Ibbetson so can't throw it out, but wouldn't throw the other 9 out that's for sure.

It certainly belongs on your list ahead of Saving Private Ryan.

didn't see any new releases this year, but really had wanted to see No Country For Old Men. To me Bardem is a big talent

I stumbled on a classic this year, Idiocracy. I had never heard about it and caught it on cable one night just because it was by Mike Judge. I don't remember when I laughed so hard.

my current top 10

The Godfathers 1 and 2
The Grapes of Wrath
It's a Wonderful Life
American Graffiti
The Big Lebowski
The Straight Story
2001 a Space Odyssey
The Elephant Man
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Chariots Of Fire

All these lists are a matter of personal choice of course, the Godfather appears frequently when folks make such lists...probably the one movie(s) that most can agree on! One of the first lists that I've actually seen every one...the only movie that I have problems with is The Big Lebowski, my friend brought the DVD over one night and we watched it...he loves it, me...well, not so much! Again, personal taste but I simply don't get it...all those times we were stoned in the 60's, to think we could have made a movie...
I'm a TV-first guy of course, think that movies simply can't compare to a good TV show but I suspect most feel differently.

of course its all about personal taste. I would just say that originally Lebowski didn't do much for me, but it really grew on me over time.

Well, I'm glad you enjoy it Jim...I was bored yesterday so I popped in Serenity and watched it for about the 20th time...simply my favorite movie while most have never seen it (or probably care to). Reminds me, I left of Insatiable from my list...has to be a top ten for me!
