This sounds like an accident waiting to happen and a very poor decision.
are they starting work on the track after saturdays racing? maybe that's why...i hope that's why, otherwise it makes no sense.

It seems to me, if the track is safe, they should at least run on Sunday, a weekend day. If they need a couple extra days for the work then Monday through Friday should suffice.

Hey, what do I know, I'm sure the track is fine for tomorrow and everyone is just thrilled they are running. I mean, honestly, cancelling the Sunshine Millions is like cancelling the Fourth of July.

Supposedly they are going to get another 2 inches of rain Saturday night so Sunday is pretty much out. I really question what kind of surface they will be left with after scraping 2 inches of slop off the top. Lets hope it safe.

I don't even know where to begin handicapping it. Scraping the cushion off the cushion track leaves what? Are the 25k claimers going to be running 6F in 1:06 flat?

You bring up a good point. Undoubtably, somehow the handle will be extraordinary, but who is going to be betting serious money? I guess it's easy for me to say, as I won't bet that surface, but even if I did I would be reticent tomorrow.

The handle comparison to last year's Sunshine Millions card at Santa Anita could be interesting.
