I think its naive to see this as anything other than a political assassination.
even if it turns out that it was actually carried out by "extremists", al qaida, etc. It happened with the tacit approval of Musharraf who made sure there was no security for Bhutto.

The election should go on imo, Musharraf would be routed. But everyone is advising that it would be too chaotic to hold the election. don't let the thugs win.

I liked The Clash.

Seems to me she chose to be a martyr.
The security was bad. She was told not
to go to many places and she did anyway.

I bet Cheney is telling GW this will stabilize things.

From all I hear, she was a decent sort...it's a sad thing. Of course a number of "regular" folks have died in the protests since her murder and we hear little if anything about them...loss of life should always be mourned. Least we fall victim to the concept that this only happens "over there", the names Emmett Till, Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King, Bobby and John Kennedy...even Larry Flynt and George Wallace should be mentioned. Hatred is a universal concept and something so minor as a different skin color, religion, nationality or political point of view sparks the ugliest of human behavior. American politics has recently once again taken a turn toward demonization of individuals instead of debate of differences...I pray we don't have such a travesty here!

The General is more helpful than anyone else in that region. I believe there are far worse alternatives than him, especially considering that they have nukes.

So you're saying a military dictatorship is preferable to a democracy? Just asking for clarification.

Would you rather fine individuals like Ahmadrnejad or Saddam at the helm with Nukes? The idea that democracy as it is known by us is going to take hold and everything will be ok is foolish. The fact that most Paki citizens support Bin Laden makes me question the gov't that they will elect. It is obviously a complex situation that no one on this board really understands because as I said before ALL information and news from places like this is shady regardless of whether it is CNN or the BBC reporting it. The evil forces of the world know how to manipulate the masses via the media just as the legitimate govt's do.

The bs coming out of there today saying that the lady was killed by hitting her head was obviously a message to someone because it is not the kind of thing that would be released without a reason. That they determined her death without an autoposy makes this "news" suspect. The reasoning behind it being introduced in an international press conference is the question. Dead is dead, death by bullet, bomb or head blow is just semantics.

from what i gather from cnn.com if you just hit your head on the car sunroof and die you are not considered a martyr (even if bullets are grazing your skull and bombs are detonating all around you). If you get shot in the head and then hit it on the sunroof or get blown up than you are a martyr and that is a big deal to the Islams I guess. The guy that said she died by hitting her head does not want her to become a martyr according to cnn.

Chuck,I wish you would of told this to GEEDUBBYA before he tried to get IRAQ to accept democracy. It's one thing to get rid of a dictator. It's a totally different thing to try to get Moslem's to accept Democracy. They worship a prophet who butchered those who wouldn't accept his authority. They are a lost cause. The name of the Islamic Democracies are? Jordan? Maybe? Malaysia is not a Democracy.Turkey is not a Democracy. You can't have a Democracy if you don't have a free press. The Anatolia News Agency doesn't cut it.You can't be a Democracy if ya have more rights for one sex than the other. What kind of Democracy has a state religion? A shitty one. What freedom of choice can one have(to choose a religion) when there is only one religion around you ? Islam is not pro -Democratic.So,don't ever expect those infected with it to amount to much.Right about now is where Somer injects the past sins of Christianity (to excuse the crap that ISLAM does 24/7.) Since I didn't say anything Pro Christian,I don't understand bringing up the Crusades( like it's an eraser for ISLAM to use over n' over again.)

"Chuck,I wish you would of told this to GEEDUBBYA before he tried to get IRAQ to accept democracy."

we should have aimed lower. bombing civilazations into feudalism is a realistic possibility.

"The name of the Islamic Democracies are?"

say jordan.

"Jordan?"

that's a monarchy.

"Turkey is not a Democracy."

despite the popularly elected government and stuff.

"What kind of Democracy has a state religion?"

great britain.

"You can't be a Democracy if ya have more rights for one sex than the other."

america wasn't a democracy until 1920.

"Since I didn't say anything Pro Christian,I don't understand bringing up the Crusades"

intolerant and factually inaccurate but not pro christian isn't an excuse. the crusades.

Yea,ass hole that Monarchy is as close to a Democracy as Moslems are gunna get. No,ass hole,Turkey isn't a Democracy. They write laws very vaguely so they can actually enforce them very differently in any situation they please. They have no free press..They cut off YOUTUBE when somebody said something about their Country's founder..ATATURK.You are no God.You are just a big ass hole that returns a hard serve. You're a receiver, bitch.Countries can call themselves a democracy, but they aren't one 1)if they don't have free press,2)if they have a national religion,3)have different rights for each sex.To say that TURKEY is a Democracy is so far off.The civil rights there are crap.Women are raped in police stations there regularly, but hey, bitch God says it's a Democracy(just so he can stick up for Moslems....Somer will help you lick Moslem balls when he wakes up.)You both crave returning hard serves.Let me be 100% clear here.Moslems are the biggest problem of our times.Until we face up to that, and match their intensity, they will continue to act as if we are their bitch(es.)Funny you bring up tolerance.I don't know how you tolerate a religion that has zero respect for non-moslems.Their own prophet killed people that didn't want to accept his authority. That's the most intolerant religion there is,but we are suppose to be tolerant of their intolerance? Beautiful......You know what's amazing? You consider Turkey a Democracy.Well,if that's true, then people in Turkey should be able to be informed about the Armenian Genocide. The exact opposite is true. The citizens know very little about what took place,It is illegal to talk about it in Turkey. You can't just go read a book about it there. They have an information blackout about their genocide against the Armenians. They invite authorities from all involved to come to Ankara and "get the facts," but these conferences are always being cancelled by a judge 2 or 3 days before they actually are to begin.

well obviously not.
the problem here is whether the country will descend into anarchy and civil war, which is quite a problem considering they have about 100 nukes lying around, and al quaeda would love to get them.

Why the hell have the gas prices here gone up a dime since she got offed?

Doesn't Pakistan import oil - thus meaning that you can't justify higher gas prices on the basis of this supposed newest excuse for unrest in the Middle East?

And I, for one, love it. I hope oil goes to $200 a barrel.
