First thing, you are right about them not being able to beat the Halo's. I do not know why, but the Angels just have the Yanks number. Second thing, They do deserve some credit for last night's win. They scored four runs off Okajima. Including back-back HR's by Cano and Giambi, before that he hadn't given up a HR to a lefty all year. For the Yanks, they had the trio off Veras, Henn and Bruney pitch 3 innings and they didn't let the game get away. Then they scored 6 in an inning against Okajima and Papelbon. Sorry SB., that is a great road win being down five going in to the 8th on the road and they have every reason to be excited. Let's see if they can take that momentum in to today's game.

I think the Halos are one of the most aggressive teams in baseball. They make teams make plays on defense. So,it takes really good pitching to shut them down(for instance,Beckett etc....) So,if you have really good starters, then you can beat the Halos. If you don't,they are gunna be all over you.You do not have really good starters. You have some o.k. starters. So,they can get to you.Wang is a control pitcher(ground ball...like Lowe,)and that doesn't work as well against the Halos...Not as well as power pitching(Beckett type) does.As for yesterday's win,the problem is you're pitching gave up 7 runs.Your pitching already gave up atleast 6 today.Your championship teams didn't do that, and it isn't a recipe for post-season victories.

He will be doing about like this.Halos better hit if he pitches like this.

He has lost 3 of his last 4 decisions, and the team has lost 4 of the last 6 games he has started. This is since 8/17..I told ya he isn't that good in the 2nd half, but you'll frame the results to fit your needs.Fact is he tires in the 2nd half, and he is usually giving up 3 or 4 runs by the 6th inning.Yanks and Boston got to him in August, and he will be chased by the 5th or 6th inning in the post.He is a good example of a Texas Hee-Haw Fatboy who needs to be still (cuz he tired.) Garrett Andersen has told Lackey repeatedly that the only good thing coming out of Texas is the I-10, but I think Frito Lay also contributes some damn good products. What was he in the 1st half 11-5? Now he is what? 16-9? Any way you look at it,he isn't as good in the 2nd half.......Right? Team has played great, but they have only won 4 of the 6 starts he had since 8/17...He isn't as bad as last year's 2nd half, but he isn't as good at all in the 2nd half.He throws over a hundred pitches in 6 or 7 innings..See? Not that sharp..Not that good in the 2nd half. ....TIRED TEX.That's what I said would happen. You and Timm were laughing about it,but he ain't going 11-5 in the 2nd half.Lately,he has to go out of the game due to throwing too many pitches by the 6th or 7th...duh...ain't sharp. He had 16 decisions (11-5) in the 1st half...He will have only 10 or 11 decisions in the 2nd half...Why? He can't keep the pitch count down ....112 pitches against f'n Baltimore in 7 innings....Tires...has to go out of game...Not sharp enough (Not as good in the 2nd half.)

Check out the last 4....

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/player...?playerId=5203

That would be 29.2 IP 28 hits 8 runs 2 hrs 4 bbs 27 k's

Not bad for a tired guy

decisions are a function of how much your team scores....if you get shutout or the bullpen blows it then you dont get a decision ....not your fault...

I know this guy's habits only too well.I'm not gunna say he can't pitch in the 1st half of the season. In the 2nd half of the season,I just see too much of this crap like he did against Texas.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=270902103

He starts out by giving up a 2 run homer early. Then he gets run support, and battles until the 6th.As I have told you many times, this guy gets oh so tired out there. He goes out to pitch the 6th inning with a 5-2 lead.He then gets nailed for a 2 run homer. In the 7th,he has to be taken out because he wild pitches a guy into scoring position.Because he doesn't have sharp enough stuff, his pitch count makes stuff like that 2 run homer in the 6th very likely. If he had better stuff,he could have a lower pitch count, and make fewer mistakes for home runs etc. that let teams back into games that the Halos have given him runs in.The other scenario is like the loss to Baltimore. He can't match the good pitching of the opposing pitcher.See how he does? He is either losing 3-0,or desperately trying to hold on to a lead of 5-4 etc.Nothing is easy for him. It's a battle. He is no ace in the 2nd half.He is unreliable in the last half of the season. This year he is very mediocre in the 2nd half, and last year he was bad in the 2nd half.He is no ace in the 2nd half(which was the point I was trying to make at the allstar break when you guys were thinking he would continue to pitch like an 11-5 pitcher.) If they hit good, then he will probably keep them in the game.If they don't hit, they will lose 5-=0,4-1,or 6-2 etc.He can't match a Beckett right now. That's just dreaming. He isn't sharp enough to keep the Yanks or Boston from scoring 3 or more runs(probably 4-5.) If the Halos hit, they got a shot to win 5-4 ,7-4,etc. He is not dominant after the break. He gets in/out of trouble, sweats a gallon, and leaves throwing 108 pitches in 6 innings. That's not an ace.He is mediocre, but on a team that is probably the best managed(in all of baseball.)
