I agree, India's bowlers looked harmless yesterday and with Hoggard and Harmison missing the England attack doesn't look very threatening either.

Looks like they're going to start playing soon though, amazing how fast they managed to clear all the surface water!

Those super soppers are brilliant at getting up all the surface water.

Only just turned the cricket, what did i miss with the Pieterson incident?? He walked but then was sent back

He edged it and the catch was claimed, but then the replays clearly showed the ball touched the ground first and he was called back.

Really strange incident.

Never mind, he's out now. I really don't like the guy, so i'm happy. Such an overrated player. He hits the ball hard, and that's why people like him, but in all fairness if any coach watched him batting they would think he hadn't got a clue about the game. He can't play a 'proper' cricket shot.

Anyway, this is the latest news from Newbury
Friday meeting abandoned with Saturday's subject to inspection

by PA Sports staff
.

THIS afternoon's meeting has been abandoned and Saturday's high-profile fixture hinges upon a 4pm inspection.

The Berkshire venue has seen heavy rainfall this morning, turning the ground from good, good to firm in places to heavy within a matter of hours.

Clerk of the course Richard Osgood confirmed: "We have abandoned and we will inspect for Saturday at 4pm."

"Obviously the ground is heavy now but when we looked between 6am and 6.30am, we were perfectly raceable although wehad had 10 millimetres of rain," explained Osgood.
"(Former jockey) John Reid then walked the track with us at 9am and we were still raceable and no worse than good to soft.”

"We have had heavy rain though and between 8.30am and 11.15am we have had 32 millimetres in total and it's still continuing to rain."

"The rain is forecast to move north so hopefully we will be all right for Saturday but we will update everyone later today."

Saturday's card is due to feature the richly-endowed Weatherbys Super Sprint as well as the Group Three Uplands Racing Hackwood Stakes.

Newbury Abandoned tomorrow, too.

Bad news for the track and for race goers in general.

Parts of the track are still waterlogged.

Ed, going back to the cricket briefly, what did you make of England's collapse? 200-1 overnight, to 298 all out..... it's laughable!

As you can probably gather, i'm not a big fan of our cricket side. Give me South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka to watch any day.
