Easily the JC Gold Cup that you speak of. Newfoundland ran a huge race that day. Funny Cide ran close to the lead with him, and fell back at the top of the stretch. Everyone (including Durkin) thought Funny Cide was done. And then he came roaring back in the stretch to win. Split Newfoundland and the Cliff's Edge in deep stretch and took the $$$. It hit that exacta... my head and my wallet wanted Newfoundland on top, but my heart wanted FC. Too bad Funny Cide got put in his place by the "zapper a few weeks later at Lone Star in the BC Classic.
