I have not owned any racers since 1990 and I must say that going to the winners circle and the people you meet are the biggist thrill for me.
If you own a part or are the sole owner the thrill is the same, but the bills are easier to share with a good group of partners. The first horse we started was a wire to wire special wt maiden winner at Fairplex when it was a 1/2 mile track and she payed 17.60 with Kenny Black in the saddle.
