Of course, they could point her to next year's BC Distaff and she STILL wouldn't have to run on real dirt. Ability on real dirt is (whether we like it or not) rapidly becoming less and less relevant for Cali-based horses like her.
By the way, here is the chart from her race Sunday:

I personally think that is way premature, the Distaff. She beat Balance who might or not have been ready and on syn. And beat a speed ball. ANd dont tell the connections of Balance that dirt is not relevant. All of her big wins on dirt, mostly at Santa Anita. And I know the goal for this horse is the Distaff. I would keep the horse on grass but who am I.

Right, but there will be no more dirt wins for anybody at Santa Anita.
With Santa Anita and Hollywood both having cushion tracks, and Del Mar having Poly, dirt ability won't matter as much for SoCal horses anymore. For the top-notch ones that want to ship and win G1s elsewhere it will, but for the majority of SoCal horses, ability on the tires is now more important than ability on dirt.
In terms of talking about this year's distaff for this particular filly though, we are in agreement. A horse should probably win SOMETHING on real dirt before the talk of a BC win on dirt begins.

This is very true.

I dont know if the people who determine what Balance does after the Distaff (assuming they make it) will do with her. Maybe she can run on the syn. Balance is 4 and will probably have won 1 million dollars by the time the BC rolls around.
