Was watching the race on TVG...masterful ride by Fires...the 3/2 was poised to blow past him just past the top of the stretch and he asked for more and cruised home...80-1!!! Wish I had played him today!

I was just browsing through results at DRF and when I saw the Hanshin, I thought to myself that it had to be a wire job so I look at the chart and sure enough, there it is. Typical Earlie, go to the front and improve your position.

Turned 60 this year. Won 6,000+ races. '68 Derby finished 3rd, moved up (Dancers Image/F Pass race). Won a G3 at Arlington on the turf last year at 40-1. Now this. Guy's amazing.

Trained by his brother William “Jinks” Fires, they were second in the Derby Trial at CD last year.

I was at that race; I made a last minute decision to go yesterday even though the weather was abismal.

Earlie took that fabulous boy from gate to wire. And well, I bet 2 bucks to win on Spotsgone. I'm still reeling a little this morning. $165 is a really nice take, and helped me to break even for the day (it was pretty much a favorite's day at Arlington). Largest amount of money I have won since Hal's My Hope came in at Gulfstream at 107 to 1 in February and my take was $218 on a 2 buck bet.

And this morning I read Earlie is 60 years old, and that info just blew me away.
