I could care less what people do in private or, for that matter, in public. I might not care for it, I might think it's funny and laugh, whatever.

Personally, I don't care all that much for 'special language' hate crime legislation. It seems like laws that apply to everyone should be enough. Frankly, I credit/blame lobbyists and other lawyers for the legislation.

I don't think you can legislate tolerance and decency.
I couldn't agree more.

lol. thanks Tim.

Just to reiterate, in case anyone is viewing me as someone who really really LOVES hate-crime legislation. I think it's necessary to a point, but let me be totally totally clear -- I am way less mad about the fact that homosexuals are not going to be covered by hate-crime legislation than I am about the fact that homosexuals are not going to be covered at the very same time that all these other groups are, and that someone from a protected class is going to be the one to make sure it doesn't happen.

Hopefully this thread has not been considered as me shoving my sexuality down anyone's throat, lest I get my skull cracked in at the grocery store an hour from now because I deserve it.

What are you talking about? I'm not sulking; I've just been busy!

My girlfriend lives in Boston and had a gay roommate in college. Very liberal out that way.
