and that's why I hate steeplechase....horse taking dives over fences.

We're concerned about what kind of dirt horses run on. Meanwhile, we never hear anything about how many horses die each year as a result of jumping fences. It has to be a ton...seems like about 25% of the steeplechase races I've watched a horse goes down hard.

me too, you hear these people raving about how good this kind of racing is, I just don't get it. I have never seen one of these races that I've liked.
