True enough the times were fast but as you know they do not write races for 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Yes there was speed aplenty yesterday but only the really big boys with bank rolls get caught up with the fastest times or "world records" as Keeneland is boasting.

You really look at how the horse "does it" if that makes sense. How they "cover the ground" to make your decisions on whether or not you want to bid on the horse next week.

When the Mineshaft filly posted the 9 3/5 yes there was a gasp among the folks there. Everyone was expecting something from this filly who was purchased at the KEESEP06 sale for 400K. It definitely "put the pressure" on the Kingmambo colt (KEESEP06) who sold for 1.25 million and I kind of felt bad when he went in 10 3/5. But when you look at how they did it and the gallop out the Kingmambo was more impressive than the Mineshaft filly. (Granted all the horses there were nice, not knocking the Mineshaft filly just trying to illustrate my point).

Nice day but it was butt-cold to sit there from 1030-1700. After the polytrack works they had about a dozen turf works. I didnt think this went well at all. Those young horses had no idea what the dogs out there were and all seemed very skiddish of the orange cones. The last worker of the day was so confused he didnt know what to do and worked in 14 1/5. Kind of unfair to these youngesters I thought. Also you had to take into consideration that for the ones on the turf working 1/4 they were like six wide on the turn to start.

My point would be that you have to be careful if you just look at a computer screen and get blown away by a time. Just ask the folks with The Green Monkey (well they have so much money they probably do not care).

Anyways I got my three circled and we will see how the sale goes next Tuesday.
