---One of his most noteable screeds, penned in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, described a bright spot in the destruction of New Orleans. "We do not grieve, however, for the flooded and destroyed sex clubs that filled men with lust and degraded women," David wrote. "We do not miss the casinos that preyed upon individuals whose lack of self-control deprived families of needed food and shelter. We do not lament the destruction of voodoo stores prevalent in New Orleans before the flood----

that was from the article dts just posted a link to--makes you wonder if the crawling speed of aid to new orleans is partly explained by views such as that above. didn't robertson and other televangelists say that the hurricane was 'divine punishment'--that god was trying to punish new orleans?! so much for the promise by god in the bible that he would never cause another flood--a dichotomy for sure.
certainly mississippis aid was quicker-that can't be argued. they suffered less damage, but got federal funding so much faster. altho some suggest that was due to miss being rep-led, while La is dem-led, but this is certainly a plausible explanation as well. certainly i would consider it part of the equation.
and i don't sleep better at night knowing our foreign policy is predicated in part by the belief by many that israel is the chosen people, and that when/if israel falls, the world will end. wonderful, great to know that logic and reasoning have such a part in decision-making! i feel comfort every time a pol says 'god told me'. such ego--what must be wrong with me, since god tells me nothing?! all these special people with a hotline direct to the Big Guy.
