The majority of the dumb money has left this sport, moving on to other interests that do not require thought, such as slots, etc. We do still have one bountiful afternoon of it though--and that's Derby day. The only afternoon that the nation generally watches and throws money, in large amounts, into the wagering pools. And often, their betting is fueled by their alcohol consumption. So, to that end, have another mint julep on me. There's more where the last one came from. Fatten the pools for all of us here and elsewhere that having been watching all year. |

![]() The Dery future pool is a great bet for the people that put it on. They get to hold your money for a long long time. The odds that your horse will even make the derby are bad enough ..winning it.. I know people have shown you can make money on the future pool but it doesn't even come close to the amount of risk involved.
ummm btw I had a hot $2 on Bluegrass Cat (can't remember what his odds were but I'm certain the place money was almost as good with half the risk) They need to allow you to bet place and show in the future pool. What could it hurt?
