That is incredible. That Sheikh is completely clueless. He has no understanding of horseracing whatsoever. Jara rode the horse perfectly. You never want to move too early and you don't want to ask a horse if you don't have to. In addition, when there is a horse in front of you that you think you can go by at any time, you want to look back and see if anyone else is coming.

The Sheikh Hamdan is so off-base it is incredible. I don't think you would have ever heard Sheikh Muhammad say something like that. I think Sheikh Muhammad has a little better understanding of racing than that.

This thread is just amazing. Before anyone else posts, though, let me grab another bag of popcorn...

I just watched a replay of th 1973 Belmont. Damn that Turcotte for stealing a peek back on the turn and coasting to the line. He coulda won by 50 lengths if he woulda gone to the whip.... "Just win, baby."

It appears that an element of Hamdan's comments may have been motivated by Shadwell Euro 'house' rider Richard Hills, whom you'll note was on board Invasor for his lone career defeat. Those close to the situation believe Hills is likely to be campaigning in advance for the mount on the defending HOY in this fall's BC Classic, and has been badrapping Jara to Hamdan.

What a jerk -
I hope Jara takes this constructively and really puts his mind to his riding and proves HE is the one who belongs on Invasor.

Perhaps Hills should shut his mouth and concentrate on his riding. If he had been doing that, perhaps he wouldn't have gotten himself into the predicament of losing his ride on Invasor. Jealousy... what an awful thing.

I heard that Hill took a wrath of #^%@ from Hamdan for his losing ride last year. That blame never went public. Funny, they were hushed about Hills, who lost but public about Jara, who won!

Without knowing this information I had the same idea. I figured that there must me some top rider(s) that are chirping in his ear about how he needs to take the mount away from Jara, critiquing everything and pointing out the flaws.

i think it would be a bad move, to make a change. No sense tinkering with something working that well.

Richard Hills? Is he related to Jamie Spencer?

Spencer is definitely talented, but he gets a few too many rushes of blood to the head. He can be infruiating to watch if youve money on him..At Royal Ascot last year, he was top jockey but had so many 2nd and 3rds as well that were just awful, horrible rides..
