You get a conso when there is one. With a Pick 4, when I got scratched out of Wonder Lady and the other horse on Belmont day, I got my money back rather than having a dead ticket put on Adieu. That's a plus, not a minus.

Here it is-
"For Daily Doubles, if a horse is scratched before the 2nd leg, a consolation will be paid on that combo, as specified by the track payouts. For Pick 3's, and Pick 4's, if a horse is scratched in any leg, you will receive refunds on all combos with the scratched horse, no matter when the horse was scratched. You will not receive the track favorite or any consolation payouts, but instead a refund. This is an advantage for the player. "-Pinnacle IT'S A JOKE.
