I think one of you guys should try this. Go up to your boss and say....I need the next 3 months off because I am pretty sure I have a broken leg.
The X-Rays say I don't, but I feel that I probably do.

Well if I had a boss I would and it would probably go like this...

Me- Hey boss, I think I got a broken leg or somethin bad like that.

Boss- Look here, Pillow. You're running in the relay at the company picnic. You've tried this every year since you've been here.

me- But boss, I could like die if I run in that race.

Boss- Toughen up, P****. If you don't stop whinin' i'm gonna make you wear a chicken costume for the race.

The good news is that they caught it early and it didn't turn into
a major problem

not a suprise.
I was just beginning to think it's been pretty quiet with very few horses going off the derby trail with injuries (Buffalo Man and Exhale may have been the two major ones so far).

Interesting to see how this shakes up the Santa Anita derby, who Garret Gomez will end up riding and if Rags to Riches takes a shot. It's possible another Pletcher horse will now go to the SA Derby (Perhaps CQ since he trains at Hollywood)?

I thought CQ was going to the Wood or am I mistaken?

That explains why he hasn't trained since the 11th.

That's where they've been pointing him, but I read the other day that he's not 100% locked in on what the next race would be for CQ, Cowtown Cat or Deadly Dealer. I assume they'll stick with the Wood, but this could possibly change things I imagine.
Although if Rags to Riches runs in the SA derby, CQ wouldn't since they have the same ownership.

This looks like it may open up the door for Rags to Riches to run in the SA Derby. I'd be surprised if she doesn't end up their now.

First I loved Tiz Wonderful...out.
Then I landed on Ravel as my Derby Horse V2.0...see ya.

Back to the drawing board.

A horse is kept from breaking down, and the filly may get into the Derby.I don't see the negative here.I guess if ya had Ravel in the futures, then it sux.

They said the the scan lit up on the front leg so obviously there is a problem. I was really looking forward to seeing him move forward but I would have hated to see something happen to him in a race. I am also surprised that more havent been thrown to the wayside on the Derby trail. A nice surprise.

How would you know? How do you know his condition wouldn't now be worse if he hadn't trained on polytrack?

Horses will always get injured no matter what surface they run on.

No this isn't how it works. You either have to think that poly is the greatest thing in the world and will prevent EVERY injury.....or.....you must think that it is the creation of Satan himself sent to earth to ruin horseracing in less than 2 years. There can be none of this middle-ground nonsense.

Yes, this is also what I find but it drives me nuts. A single injury to a horse that has ran on or trained on ploytrack is cited as an example of a failure of that surface. Yet day in and day out, breakdown after breakdown occurs to horses on dirt and hardly a peep. I guess dirt injuries are just accepted.
It's as is polytrack is total crap unless it eliminates 100% of all breakdowns.
