In life, we, as women, should never expect anyone to take care of us, but we do. Its part of why we enter into relationships. We take care of them, and they in return, readily and willingly, do the same for us. And it is because we WANT to, they WANT to.

Actually that is probably what everyone, or most, hope for. Finding that particular individual.

I have a full time job and I've managed to take care of myself just fine. I'd love to make more money, but I take pride in my independence and would never be ok with being a gold digger.

And what you describe, this is success. Few women though, readily admit, "I'm a gold digger". Bad form and all that.

I also was unaware that expecting honesty in a relationship with a non-binge drinking man who has a brain (and who likes horses ) was considered a lot of requirements. Believe me, I'm not picky, but I've been in a few lousy relationships (including a marriage) that have helped me to understand what I DO need in a relationship.

You do have a lot of requirements, sound ones. But weighing them is necessary. Choose what is most important. And bad relationships teach us a lot, hopefully. Unless though, we are stubborn and prone to continue in making the wrong choices. In such cases, we cause ourselves pain.

I guess I'm not coming across very clear today... not enough rest last night. I meant that I don't expect a man to take care of me monetarily. I don't need someone to pay all of my bills for me, etc. You're 100% correct in that I hope to find someone who WANTS to come home to me at night and wants to take care of me when I'm sick, depressed etc. I've dated men with money (this last relationship for example), but that isn't what I need to be happy. I never quite fit into the 'pit lizard' role with the bling bling ring, $200 jeans and 4 inch high heels in the garage. That's just not me.

Money does not make us happy. It makes us comfortable, it makes life go down a little easier; but no, it doesn't make us happy.
